Oddball humour

-

Community FOUR, Friday, 8pm THERE is something very addictive about FOUR’s Friday night comedy Community. Set at a very mediocre community college, the show follows the antics of a mismatched bunch of students who become friends through their study group.

One episode is never enough and it would be a great day, and one I’d spend on the couch, if someone ever screens the season back to back.

If you haven’t watched it before you’ll probably recognise actors Chevy Chase as mature student Pierce and Alison Brie, who plays the young and sweet Annie (she’s also Trudy Campbell in Mad Men). But you’ll develop a soft spot for all the characters, while the oddball, clever humour definitely delivers big payoffs. This week’s episode is a series of flashbacks, but with a twist.

‘‘It’s flashbacks to things that never happened,’’ explains Gillian Jacobs, who plays Britta. Cue some typical self-referential, genre-bending humour and great one-liners.
