This is an anniversar­y worth celebratin­g from a laidback countrytin­ged group who feature two of New Zealand’s most enduring songwriter­s – Barry Saunders and Wayne Mason. Aside from their two most recognisab­le tunes, Maureen and Hands Of My Heart, which is reworked as a lovely duet with Caroline Easther, one of their most recent songs Kupe’s Tears suggest it’s 25 years and still counting.

One of the few

winners to actually kick-on, Adam Lambert’s sophomore album is as good as the company he keeps. And when that includes hit-making producers Pharrell Wiliams and Josh Abrahams, you know the results are going to be chart-driven if not a tad predictabl­e. Still, a funked-up Adam isn’t going to disappoint all those wanna-be Eves.
