CD THE WARATAHS 25th Year Collection (Ode)
This is an anniversary worth celebrating from a laidback countrytinged group who feature two of New Zealand’s most enduring songwriters – Barry Saunders and Wayne Mason. Aside from their two most recognisable tunes, Maureen and Hands Of My Heart, which is reworked as a lovely duet with Caroline Easther, one of their most recent songs Kupe’s Tears suggest it’s 25 years and still counting.
ADAM LAMBERT Trespassing (Sony
One of the few
winners to actually kick-on, Adam Lambert’s sophomore album is as good as the company he keeps. And when that includes hit-making producers Pharrell Wiliams and Josh Abrahams, you know the results are going to be chart-driven if not a tad predictable. Still, a funked-up Adam isn’t going to disappoint all those wanna-be Eves.
