Hunt demands half Lesnar’s UFC purse

-

KIWI UFC fighter Mark Hunt has demanded half of Brock Lesnar’s purse after finding out that the WWE star has potentially failed a drug test.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) released a statement yesterday saying the American, who beat Hunt by unanimous decision at UFC 200 last Sunday, has potentially breached anti-doping rules.

Lesnar cut a mammoth figure compared to Hunt in the ring and used that physical advantage to manhandle him in the fight.

An angry Hunt said he was frustrated that he had again fought someone who may have had an illegal advantage.

‘‘I saw Brock made millions for this fight, more than anyone ever,’’ Hunt told MarkHunt.TV.

‘‘I wanna know what they are gonna do to Brock now. When you don’t make weight they give 20 per cent of your purse to the other fighter. If you get caught cheating you should lose all of it.

‘‘I’ve told Dana I want half of Brock’s purse.’’

Having fought drug cheats in the past, Hunt says enough is enough.

‘‘They say they are trying to clean up the sport, but it doesn’t feel like it,’’ he said. ‘‘The UFC is basically saying if you cheat you won’t be penalised.

‘‘This is the third time I’ve had to fight a cheater in my career. The other two times I didn’t ask for compensation, but this is the third time and I’m sick of them getting away with cheating.’’

Hunt said if he wasn’t compensated then he would ask UFC boss Dana White to be released from his UFC contract.

The UFC said it was only notified of the news yesterday.

‘‘The UFC organisation was notified today that the US AntiDoping Agency (USADA) has informed Brock Lesnar of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-ofcompetition sample collection on June 28, 2016.

‘‘USADA received the testing results from the June 28, 2016 sample collection from the WADA-accredited UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory on the GETTY IMAGES evening of July 14, 2016.’’

The statement said USADA would handle the results management and adjudication of the case going forward, but stressed Lesnar would be afforded a ‘‘full fair legal review process’’.

‘‘Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward,’’ the UFC said.

It is not yet known what Lesnar’s potential violation will mean for the result of their fight.
