Missing swimmer founddead
THE body of a swimmer who went missing after a diving incident at a popular Hawke’s Bay waterfall on Friday has been found.
Police said the man’s body was recovered from the Maraetotara Falls area, near Hastings, shortly after 9am yesterday and they were now working to formally identify the man and inform his family.
After the search for the man had been suspended at 7.30pm on Friday a scene guard was posted at the site overnight until searching resumed at 8.30am.
A police spokeswoman said the search focused near where he was seen jumping into the water about 5.30pm on Friday.
Emergency services were called after the man failed to resurface. UMANG KOTHARI
