‘Unexplained’ death of baby

POLICE are making inquiries into the ‘‘unexplained’’ death of a nine-month-old baby in Marewa, Napier.

Detective Sergeant Darren Pritchard said police were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death after emergency services were called to the home at 3.45am yesterday.

The baby was confirmed deceased a short time later.

‘‘We are speaking to a number of people who were at the house at the time,’’ Pritchard said.
