Moroney-trained mare flies home for cool million

-

A decision not to sell Tofane at a recent sale has paid a $1 million dividend after the mare flew down the outside to edge out Vega One, in the $1.6m Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), at Eagle Farm in Brisbane yesterday. Trained by expat Kiwi mentor Mike Moroney, the mare was ridden by Craig Williams, who notched his 64th Group 1 success in the race, reported racing.com. Tofane ($11) chased down the Kingsford-Smith Cup winner Vega One by a half-length margin, with Signore Fox third.
