What to watch this week

- – James Croot

Bel-Air (Tomorrow, TVNZ OnDemand)

Will Smith is a co-developer of this fresh, dramatic reboot of the mega-popular 90s sitcom which turned the rapper into a TV star. As with the original, this six-part show follows the adventures of a young man as he relocates from the mean streets of Philadelphia to the more opulent and secluded surrounds of the exclusive Los Angeles neighbourhood.

CSI: Vegas (8.30pm, Tuesday, TVNZ 2)

Six years after the long-running, groundbreaking police procedural finally seemingly exhausted all the potential crime Sin City had to offer, producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s series is back for a 10-episode ‘‘sequel’’. This picks up some loose ends from the original run and begins with former homicide detective Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) barely surviving an attempt on his life. As the new team running the crime lab investigate, he discovers a link to a past case and enlists the support of former colleague Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox). Backed by some whizzy new technology and quirky, fresh characters, this is a smart, intriguing reboot that provides plenty of opportunities for legacy characters to shine.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Friday,

Amazon Prime Video)

As the eight-part season four of this popular, multi-Emmy Award-winning, mid-20th century set dramedy begins, Midge’s (Rachel Brosnahan) commitment to her craft – and the places it takes her – creates a rift between her and her family and friends. Guest stars this time around include Milo Ventimiglia, John Waters and Jason Alexander.
