The Twelve (Tuesday, TVNZ+)

Kate Mulvany, Marta Dusseldorp and our own Sam Neill star in this 10-part Australian crimethriller which focuses around the dozen ordinary people who are selected for jury duty in a murder trial that might just be as traumatising as it is controversial. A woman has been accused of killing a child. Based on a 2019 Belgian series of the same name. ‘‘It’s all very Days of Our Lives melodrama, except presented with the alluring sheen of prestige television,’’ wrote Screen Hub’s Stephen A Russell.

Reservation Dogs (Wednesday, Disney+) As the 10-part second season of this criticallyacclaimed US teen comedy co-created by Taika Waititi opens, the gang is scattered, with Elora (Devery Jacobs) and Jackie (Elva Guerra) on the road to California and the others in various places around the reservation. One member though is convinced that all their misfortune is the result of a curse she made – something she is now determined to fix. ‘‘It blends dumb jokes, smart jokes, satire, pathos, social realism, magical realism and tribal lore. . . into a series that is fresh, funny and heartfelt,’’ wrote NPR’s John Powers.

Pinocchio

(Thursday, Disney+)

Forrest Gump and The Polar Express director Robert Zemeckis helms this live-action ‘‘reimagining’’ of the beloved animated feature based on Carlo Collodi’s classic tale. Tom Hanks plays Geppetto, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt provides the voice of Jiminy Cricket and The Haunting of Bly Manor’s Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is the puppet who desperately wants to be ‘‘a real boy’’.
