McKenzie heads back to the Simpsons

BRET McKenzie may be going all serious with his new album Songs Without Jokes, but the Oscar winner is heading back into comic territory and writing a song for mega diva Lizzo which will appear in an upcoming episode of the Simpsons. McKenzie last year teamed up with writer Tim long for a Simpsons song delivered by actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the episode titled Panic on the Streets of Springfield – an episode in which Cumberbatch’s character Quilloughby was a thinly veiled parody of English 1980s glum rock star Morrisey. Morrisey was unhappy at that portrayal – but since Lizzo is rumoured to be playing Lisa’s singing Happy Elf Doll in the upcoming episode, McKenzie ought to be on safer ground.
