Ko, Alker make solid starts in US title bids

Kiwi star Lydia Ko (67) fired five birdies, but trailed six joint leaders by three, on the LPGA Tour in Arkansas yesterday. Ko is chasing USA’s Megan Khang and Ryann O’Toole (64) among others. Kiwi pro Steven Alker canned four birdies in his 68, two behind Chris DiMarco (66) on the US Seniors Tour in California. DiMarco shot 37 on the front, but 29 coming in, including five birdies straight from 14-18 at Pebble Beach. NZ’s Ryan Fox (72-73) missed the cut in France. The USA lead the Internationals 8-2 in the men’s Presidents Cup.
