Ridley (8.30pm, Thursday, Eden)

Line of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar headlines this fourpart ITV drama about a retired police officer lured back into service when his former protegee Carol Farman (Bronagh Waugh) needs help cracking a complex murder case. ‘‘As a chance for Dunbar to move on from his role as Ted Hastings… without alienating those who have come to know him primarily from that, it works very well,’’ wrote The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan.

The Peripheral (Friday, Prime Video)

From the creators of Westworld comes this eightpart sci-fi thriller based on William Gibson’s 2014 book. Chloe¨ Grace Moretz plays Flynn Fisher, a 3D printing shop worker who earns some muchneeded extra money playing VR games for rich people. However, when donning the headset one night, she finds herself in a futuristic London that feels just a little too real – it turns out someone 70 years in the future has found a way to open a door to her world and, just by her mere presence, Flynn has set dangerous forces into motion.

Raymond and Ray (Friday, Apple TV+)

Ewan McGregor stars alongside Ethan Hawke in this tale of long-estranged half-brothers who reunite to bury their father. While neither of them had the greatest relationsh­ip with their pa, much to their annoyance, they discover everyone they meet found him to be charismati­c. Even worse, while he’s left them next to nothing financiall­y, there is one ‘‘exhausting and aggravatin­g final request’’.
