Band P1Harmony: it will be fun'
P1Harmony’s New Zealand connection gets me nowhere, as my questions are cut before I even have the chance to ask them.
This interview doesn’t involve a single member of P1Harmony speaking to me – their team receives questions via email, I’m given the answers, and the story writes itself?
It’s an impersonal way to interview, as you’re missing on the details that bring a feature piece to life: the way the boys hold themselves, their chemistry with each other, their personalities away from the eyes of their management team, and the chance to ask a follow-up question if you catch something interesting in the conversation (or, to think of something else when your questions are cut).
Instead, I’m sent a video of the boys lined up in two neat rows in an all-white studio, charming smiles and perfect hair aplenty as they discuss their career highlights.
For Jongseob and Jiang, they recall their Music Bank performance in Paris; Theo highlights their “difficult” world tour, while Keeho cited the band’s performance next to the SoFi stadium.
“We had like almost 10,000 people show up,” he says. “That was really crazy.”
For now, the revelation that skydiving off Auckland’s Sky Tower, an activity enjoyed by the likes of Beyoncé and One Direction, could make some fun entertainment during their off time has got the boys excited.
Most are keen to give it a try, despite never doing it before, though Soul quips his bandmates “got cramps while riding [a] rollercoaster”.
“I prefer the nature,” Jiung says.
“I will watch the rest of the boys skydive off, on the ground.”
