Five ways with Chelsea boots
Chelsea boots are the men’s boot du jour. With their ability to fit pretty much any ny dress code with comfort and style, it’s no wonder. The pair of RM Williams boots I’ve e worked with here is a fancier and box-fresh version of what at our model Anthonie has worn pretty much daily for the past few years, though his are dark brown and hard worn.
Anthonie is my most difficult client, and husband. He usually gives me lastminute notice and no budget to work with for the outfits s he wears to perform in as a touring musician. So I’ve had to be pretty creative with what I come up with.
Here, I’ve tried to style some diverse men’s looks, using ng trans-seasonal pieces by local designers.
I’ve always liked the idea of unisex fits, but when you’re re a stickler for a correct fit like I am, it’s not always practical. Where it can work very well is with the likes of T-shirts, coats, pants and shirts.
Anthonie and I both fit size 10 women’s trousers, so, within reason, I can pull from either of our suit bags when dressing him m for shows.
At iD Fashion Week a couple of months back, androgyny ny was a recurrent theme among local and international fashion n graduates. Anthonie was performing at the show, dressed quietly on-trend, n-trend, wearing Karen Walker trousers with a Nom*D jacket the first night, both from women’s lines. The second night he wore re a sparkly Hailwood jersey under a Barkers suit. And yes, on both nights he wore his usual Chelsea boots. 1.
