Worth the trip

-

Spring has almost sprung and with it comes the 10th birthday of the delightful Whitianga Scallop Festival. What’s not to like about this delicious shellfish, especially when chefs such as Ray McVinnie and Josh Emett are teaching you how to cook it. The festival bills itself as a ‘‘weekend-long celebration of Coromandel seafood and cuisine’’, which features music, food and craft stalls. It will be held on the first weekend in September. We’re not sure how these festival-goers, left, got their shellfish so confused with their mythical sea creatures, but can’t deny it looks like fun. See scallopfestival.co.nz.
