Aru will take action against Henderson

-

ITALIAN PROFESSIONAL cyclist Fabio Aru has confirmed he still intends to take legal action against Greg Henderson over critical comments the New Zealand cyclist wrote about him on Twitter last week.

He deleted tweets issued ogy.

Henderson told Fairfax Media during the week that, despite a threat of legal action from Aru, he had yet to hear from the Italian’s yer and hoped the matter blown over.

However, Aru told website Cyclingnews that he still intended taking things further.

‘‘ I’m not interested in seeing him or having his apology. To be honest I don’t even know him,’’ Aru said.

‘‘We’re working on and we’ll definitely

an later the and apol-

Italian cyclist lawhad legal action do it. He should have thought first before writing something. Apologising afterwards is too late. We all make mistakes but he should have thought about the consequences before slandering somebody like that. It hurt and I didn’t deserve it. There’s no truth to it at all. I was ill for four days and I had to miss the Giro del Trentino. That’s all.’’

Aru reportedly missed the Giro del Trentino due to a stomach ailment and lost 5kg in the process.

He is one of the up- andcoming stars of Italian cycling, finishing third in last year’s Giro d’Italia at the age of 23, before going on to a fifth placing in the Vuelta a Espana.

Aru’s Astana team has been caught up in a number of doping cases over the years and is being strictly monitored by the sport’s governing body. Henderson and Aru will line up against each other in the Giro d’Italia when the Italian Grand Tour starts on May 9.

I’m not interested in seeing him or having his apology.
