Fishing for some ‘Me Time’
It was one hell of a year for Ryan and Lisa Seator.
The couple were the victims of crime, endured family illness and suffered a car crash, all in 12 months.
Now, they’ve finally had some good news.
Lisa Seator nominated her husband Ryan for the Sunday StarTimes’ ‘Me-Time’ competition in conjunction with Stuff Nation, describing the volunteer firefighter as her ‘rock’ through their rough year.
On Valentine’s Day last year their car was written off when they were rear-ended on an Auckland motorway.
Three months later, Lisa’s sister was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.
Then in August, the Eketahuna couple received a call from an employee at their service station to say there had been an armed robbery, which was followed by three further burglaries within a month.
‘‘We have worked extremely hard over 2015, and Ryan has been my rock, being there for me at my lowest to support me through all that,’’ Lisa said in her competition entry.
‘‘He deserves a medal! However his me-time to relax would be a day out on a fishing charter.’’
So Lisa was thrilled to learn they would get their me-time after all on May 2.
Graeme Bee from Rampant Charters in Hawke’s Bay took the Seators out for a day’s fishing.
Ryan had no idea what was in store until he turned up in the morning. ‘‘The wife did well to keep it quiet. It was a really good surprise.’’
‘‘We really enjoyed it. I’d like to thank Graeme for a wonderful time,’’ Lisa said.
Bee said he was happy to give up his time to take the Seators out.
‘‘I like to do a lot with community projects and people like that. I do a lot of kids’ competitions . . . and when I was approached I thought it sounded like a good idea to do something nice for someone, and give them a treat.’’
