$17,000 warranty
Thinking of picking up a second hand Bugatti Veyron, but a bit worried about what it might cost you if it breaks down?
Well, worry no more, because UK company Warrantywise has just revealed details of a warranty plan it will make available for used Veyrons.
It’s the most expensive warranty plan the company has ever offered. It’s more, in fact, than many people will ever pay for a car.
The Warrantywise Platinum Plus package is a £10,000 (NZ$17,700) 12-month warranty that will cover any repairs up to the retail value of the car, including wear and tear, plus roadside assistance and car hire.
It covers all mechanical and electrical parts, including oil seals, labour rates, air-conditioning, gaskets, drive belts, wiring looms and radiators.
With a total of 10 radiators, four turbochargers and 16 cylinders, the Warrantywise product will surely provide total peace-of-mind for any pre-loved Veyron buyer.
The Platinum Plus warranty will be included by Derbyshire highend car dealer Tom Hartley Jnr in the purchase cost of a Veyron it currently has up for sale. It will cover the first 12 months after purchase. If that seems generous, remember that the Veyron is selling for NZ$3.35 million.
But even at $17k a year, the warranty is well worth getting, as the Veyron is an incredibly complex car.
That complexity is essential for its incredible performance.
The Veyron 16.4 Super Sport accelerates from 0-100kmh in 2.5 seconds and is still officially the Guinness Book of World Records Fastest Production Car, hitting an unrestricted top speed of 431kmh.
