Off a quiet cul-de-sac only five minute’s drive from central Queenstown, the driveway lined with cherry blossoms leads up to a character home nestled snugly in its own world. Described by owners Mark and Myschel Albrecht as “like a mountain chalet, but with so much more personality”, the home’s interior delights with unique features from the recycled doors to the copper piping handrail feeding up the stairwell. When asked about their favourite part of the home though, both Mark and Myschel have no hesitation in answering. “Without a doubt the perfect views – they are heavenly.” Searching for their own private paradise after moving to New Zealand, the Albrecht family found everything to love in their home looking out towards Coronet Peak skifield, the surrounding mountains and Shotover River below. “You can’t help but feel as though you are in heaven out here with only the sounds of bird-song and rushing water from the river,” they say. Only a short drive away from the Coronet Peak skifield and some of New Zealand’s finest walking and biking tracks, its location is every adventurer’s dream. The large property also features immaculate gardens and has access to a creek and waterfall rich with gold-mining history, offering outdoor enthusiasts or young children plenty to explore closer to home. For those needing some recovery time afterwards, the spacious lounge and dining areas are perfect for entertaining guests, or simply relaxing next to the open fire. With three light-filled bedrooms, two bathrooms, a study and outdoor deck all boasting spectacular views, it’s no wonder Mark and Myschel are hesitant to move on from their mountaintop lifestyle. “We have lived here blissfully for seven years, and are reluctantly selling to move home to Australia to be closer to family,” they say. “If we had decided to stay in New Zealand, there is no way we would be selling Queenstown’s best kept secret!”
