Getting there: Hong Kong Airlines flies from Auckland to Hong Kong 10 times a week. See hongkongairlines.com.

Staying there: Attitude on Granville is one of Hong Kong’s newest boutique hotels. Operated by the Soravit Hotels Group, it’s a 81-room trendy hotel decked out in the theme of Tsim Sha Tsui and old Hong Kong. The rooms are categorised into Urban, HKD$750 ($132) a night, Cosy, HKD$1000 ($176), Elite, HKD$1100 ($194), and Studio Suite, HKD$1450 ($250). Urban and Cosy are snug, offering a space up to 22 square metres, but still come with a generously sized bathroom and the option of having a double or twin beds. Elite and Studio Suite are more spacious, and also come with a lounge area. There are two places to dine and drink in the same building that are independent of the hotel. Yum Cha on the third floor offers traditional dim sum with a modern twist. Urban Park on the fourth floor has a European menu and craft cocktails, but best of all, has a rooftop area to soak up the Hong Kong nightlife.

Being there: The Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stop is just around the corner and the Harbour City and Ocean Terminals, a 10-minute walk away. In the area is also the well-established K11 shopping centre.
