Watties peaches – sliced in light syrup
Syrups are made from sugar and water so fruit canned in syrup will have added (free) sugar. Syrups are ‘‘light’’ or ‘‘heavy’’ depending on the concentration of sugar. This variety is nutritionally the worst. It has 195kJ and 10.6g sugar /100g (2.5 teaspoons) i.e. 10 teaspoons free sugar per 400g can. Our tasters voted it last, with many saying it was too sweet. Points to them for being sugar sensitive.
