Golf: Lydia Ko can forget about contending for the Australian Open title after failing to make any progress during the third round. Having just managed to scrape inside the cut in her first tournament of 2017, the Kiwi world No 1 needed a big effort on moving day. But she could only manage an even-par 73 to remain 10 shots off leader American Lizette Salas. Among the early starters at Royal Adelaide, Ko was made to battle gusty wind that is often a factor at Royal Adelaide. But once again she was left to bemoan some near misses with her putter. which would have been played in the Tongan capital Nuku’alofa on June 17, can no longer take place at Teufaiva Sport Stadium because of redevelopm­ent work. There are also issues about the state of the pitch and the Welsh Rugby Union have voiced concerns over the lack of medical facilities. A delegation from the Welsh Rugby Union and World Rugby visited Tonga in December to see if sufficient progress had been made to get the stadium ready.
