Road rage will hurt this car’s feelings
Honda is currently focused on something called a Co-operative Mobility Ecosystem: not exactly catchy, but some fascinating ideas lie within.
It’s all about harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI), robotics and ‘big data’ to transform transportation.
The end goal of this technology is to reduce traffic congestion but also create better-quality time for travellers – assuming they’re not enjoying the drive! Honda is experimenting with a number of new modes of in-car connectivity.
One of the most interesting is the NeuV concept car, an automated commuter vehicle which runs on an incarnation of AI called Emotion Engine (EE).
So that’s AIEE? Sounds like a scream, which is probably appropriate because EE enables machines to artificially generate their own emotions. No need to be angry about a traffic jam, because NeuV will be angry for you.
EE was developed by a company called Cocoro Corporation, as part of a suite of AI technologies.
Honda is testing advanced automated vehicle technologies in Japan and North America and is targeting 2020 for the deployment of highly automated vehicles on public highways.
It also has a stated aim of making two-thirds of its global automobile sales hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electrified vehicles by 2030.
