You’re coming here to play at Womad. What do you enjoy about playing such events?

-

‘‘Brazilian music is so magnificent and so eclectic, it’s hard to explain in just a few words. Mainly I feel very blessed to have been born into such a great musical family, and to be given the opportunity to follow in their footsteps. This is my history.’’ ‘‘Oh, the vibrant festival atmosphere and the experience of playing for a big audience, to be able to reach so many people at once. A lot of my shows are in nightclubs, so these big festival shows are always a very nice challenge for me, and a lot of fun.’’

Which living person do you most admire?

‘‘Oh, there are so many, it’s impossible to pick just one. But Prince was certainly a very big influence, and someone I admired until his passing last year.’’

What things are you most looking looking forward to over the coming year?

‘‘To get rich! No, I’m kidding. I’m looking forward to performing in New Zealand for the first time, for sure. And to continue creating new music and doing live performances.’’

What job would you do other than your own, and why?

‘‘Actress. I’ve done a little acting over the years, starting back when I was a teenager doing some theatre work with my uncle, Chico Buarque. Most recently, I was the voice of Eva, a character in the animated films Rio and Rio 2.’’
