Wild weather

-

Slips and wet and wild weather at both ends of the country caused chaos on the roads yesterday and left two women lucky to be alive after a landslide crushed part of their home. The slip in Church Bay on Banks Peninsula at around 6am yesterday knocked the house off its foundations, filling it with mud and rocks, and carried a double garage down the hill and into the roof. Deputy chief fire officer Barry Craw said the slip had closed Marine Dr, meaning Charteris Bay and Diamond Harbour were cut off until downed power lines were fixed.
