Football: Wayne Rooney has been charged with drink-driving and was released on bail ahead of a court appearance later this month, Cheshire police said. The 31-year-old Everton striker was reportedly stopped by police near his home outside Manchester early on Friday (Friday afternoon NZ Time). He is due to appear in court on September 18. British media are reporting Rooney was driving a car allegedly owned by a 29-year-old female office worker. His pregnant wife, Coleen, and their three children are on holiday in Spain. His arrest came after he was seen dancing on the tables at a local bar. If convicted, Rooney could be fined and banned from driving, or even face jail time.
