Hole in one

-

Golf: Jason Day produced a stunning hole-in-one to jump into contention alongside fellow Australian Marc Leishman after the second round of the BMW Championship, the penultimate event on the PGA Tour playoffs schedule. The Australian world No 9 aced the 189-yard par-3 17th at Conway Farms in Chicago en route to a six-under par 65 yesterday. Day’s 13-under total left him alongside world No 10 Rickie Fowler (64) in second place, three shots behind countryman Leishman, who fired a seven-under 64 to get to 16-under par. The hole-in-one came moments after Day, who won the event by six shots in 2015, produced a chip-in eagle at the par-5 14th. ‘‘My last holein-one was at Turning Stone (Resort Championship) in 2008, so I’ve had a bit of a dry spell,’’ Day said after his round.
