More information

The 2018 Ghan Expedition season runs from April to October. During the high season (May to September 2018), fares are NZ$3994 per person for a gold service single cabin, NZ$4213pp for a gold service twin cabin, and NZ$6583pp for a platinum service cabin. During the shoulder season (April 2018, September 24 – October 2018, March 2019) fares are NZ$3730pp for a gold service single cabin, NZ$3950pp for a gold service twin cabin, and NZ$6254pp for a platinum service cabin. All food, drink and most of the off-train excursions are included in the fare. Advance purchase discounts are available for bookings made at least six months prior. The Ghan operates all year round, as a three-day/two-night train leaving Adelaide on Sundays and Darwin on Wednesdays. During the Ghan Expedition season, the southbound journey becomes four-days/threenights. The train leaves Darwin on Wednesday morning, so it is best to arrive the night before.
