Meet the Dotcoms . . .
Pure love. Pure happiness. Thank you Kim Dotcom for absolutely everything. Liz Dotcom
Internet entrepreneur Kim Dotcom married his ‘Wonder Woman’ Elizabeth Donnelly in a private ceremony attended by friends and family yesterday.
Dotcom, 43, said he was ‘filled with joy’ after marrying his Kiwi bride, who is 21 years his junior, on the sixth anniversary of police raids on his former mansion in Coatesville.
Donnelly, who changed her social media account to Liz Dotcom, thanked her new husband in a post of her own, saying ‘‘Pure love. Pure happiness. Thank you Kim Dotcom for absolutely everything. Forever love.’’
She also called herself ‘‘the luckiest girl in the world’’.
The wedding location and guestlist were kept under wraps, although Dotcom put out teasers during the day to his hundreds of thousands of online followers including a picture of his dog saying ‘‘my best man has arrived’’.
The couple moved from Auckland to Queenstown in August – it is Dotcom’s first public relationship since he separated from his first wife, Mona.
Earlier on Saturday, Dotcom announced he was suing the New Zealand Government for billions in damages over its investigation into alleged online piracy.
On Twitter, Dotcom said six years ago, two helicopters packed with anti-terror troops armed with Bushmaster rifles landed in front of his house to enforce an arrest warrant, based on a non-criminal claim of secondary online copyright infringement.
Dotcom said he would turn the six-year anniversary of the raid of his mansion into a happy memory.
‘‘I have a habit of turning bad anniversaries into good anniversaries by doing beautiful things that outshine bad events,’’ he said.
"January 20 will always be a special day in my life. I turned it into a day of joy. Flood the darkness with light.’’
