While the Mitsubishi SUVs were a stop-gap measure until Peugeot could develop its own SUV, the 3008 of 2009 was an attempt to make a true crossover-SUV. And was it ever a crossover – featuring elements of an SUV and a people mover, the 3008 merged the best of both worlds and the result was, well, just weird really.

While it was actually a very good car, it was oddly-proportioned and clumsy in a way that suggested function had dictated form. Or that Peugeot just really didn’t get this SUV thing. It succeeded on the second go, however, and the current 3008 is a proper modern SUV.
