508 RXH
Before the 3008 transitioned into a proper SUV, Peugeot also had a crack at the whole ‘‘raised-up wagon pretending to be an SUV’’ thing in 2012 with the release of the dieselhybrid 508 RXH.
It was a high-tech vehicle that again didn’t seem to fire. Maybe it was a bit too weird: diesel-hybrid didn’t make sense to many, even though it was a clever powertrain: combustion engine driving the front wheels, battery on the back.
Peugeot later launched a version with a convention engine and FWD. While AWD doesn’t seem to be essential in the current SUV market, it was cynical to omit it in a crossovertype station wagon.
