Tributes flow for muso
Former Headless Chickens bassist Grant Fell has died, following a two-year battle with cancer.
Fell’s friend Russell Brown was among those who tweeted their respects.
‘‘I’m sad to say that my old friend Grant Fell passed away this evening,’’ Brown wrote. ‘‘That man, with his great heart and his enterprise, changed my life more than once.’’
The Headless Chickens formed in the 1980s and went on to star lead singer Fiona McDonald. They recorded three albums: Stunt Clown (1988), Body Blow (1991), and Greedy (1997) and won five New Zealand Music Awards.
Fell was diagnosed wth glioblastoma – a cancerous brain tumour – in 2015. In September, his doctors told him the tumour had gone.
