The list of stage production­s that have offended various religions is long, dating right back to Moliere’s 1664 comedy Tartuffe, which was censored by Louis XIV. But for a modern example, the creators of South Park adopted the same blunt humour as their TV show and duly wound lots of people up. One song featured Hitler, Genghis Khan, Satan and Jeffrey Dahmer.
