The Questionnaire

Dai Henwood

- FEBRUARY 4, 2018

He might be one of the shortest men on New Zealand TV but Dai Henwood gets some of the biggest laughs as a core member of comedy show 7 Days, which began another season on Friday. Interview by

Mike Alexander. What are you plugging right now?

I’m always plugging something. A new series of 7 Days is back on the screens. Plus I have some gigs happening in Tauranga and New Plymouth on March 2 and 3.

Take the time to do what you love now. Life is only a journey. Enjoy that journey.

What’s your idea of perfect happiness?

As I have got older I realise happiness is a feeling of calm and peace. When I was younger, I would think excitement was happiness. Perfect happiness is a beach, family, relaxing and being in the sea. Perfect happiness also involves a lot of meditation for me.

Which living person do you most admire?

This is a double act. My father and mother. They have shown me how to navigate the world with success and pride. They are wonderful, honest and caring people who have provided me with the skills that I can now pass down to my children.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?

When I was performing in a play at university, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui by Bertolt Brecht. I had a cameo role where I needed to run in and grab a group’s attention, stand on a chair and make a big decree. I moved too fast and jumped on the chair. It broke into pieces and I fell on my face. It was a serious play and everybody was laughing. I guess I was meant to be a comedian.
