Ban the rodeo

The pressure that was already mounting against the continued barbarity of rodeos has just increased after the death of a bull at a Martinborough rodeo.

It’s clear that rodeo promoters show no signs of being aware of today’s movement away from exploiting animals in circuses, rodeos and the like for human entertainment, and, of course, this once included ‘‘freak show’’ humans as well.

These shows were all very popular with the 19th century crowds, but that didn’t justify the practice.

In 2018 it’s time for these rodeo-cowboys to ride off into the sunset.
