Interest high in CFO gong

Arecord number of nomination­s have been received for the country’s annual accolade for chief financial officers.

The New Zealand CFO Summit & Awards return next month to Auckland, giving finance leaders across all industries a chance to examine issues and share best practice.

Event manager Nadia Isaacs said 300 finance industry leaders attended the summit last year, which was capped off by a sell-out awards dinner.

This year’s summit will focus on the evolving nature of a CFO, and explore the need for CFOs to also be an inspiring strategic, future-focused thinker.

Speakers include Theresa Gattung from My Food Bag; Jonathan Porritt, founder of British-based sustainabi­lity group Forum for the Future; and Michael Hardwick, CFO of Cotton On Group.

A wide range of topics will be discussed including technology and global macro-economics.

Last year, the CFO of the year was Chorus’ Andrew Carroll. This year’s finalists are Jennifer Whooley of listed property company Stride; Keith Longden of University of Canterbury; and Stewart Brooks of NZ Super Fund.
