I’ll be in Sydney for almost a week with my 14-year-old daughter. Where should we stay?

Sydney is an incredible city and I think you two will have a fantastic time. My recommendations depend on your tastes and what kind of experience you’re after.

If you’re keen to be in the heart of the city, I’d recommend the central business district or Darling Harbour. This puts you in a perfect spot for exploring, and it’s easy to catch public transport to some of the famous suburbs, beautiful beaches and must-do coastal walks.

If you’re after something more low-key, or a bit of a beach holiday, I’d suggest staying at iconic Bondi Beach. You can opt for something funky and boutique, or luxurious – it’s all there.

Wherever you stay, you might like to check out BridgeClimb on the Sydney Harbour Bridge or Sydney Tower Eye for amazing city views. You could bond over some surf lessons at Bondi or jump on a ferry to beautiful Manly Beach.

And, of course, Sydney’s fabulous shopping is sure to please any teenage daughter. I love the scheduled Shopper Hopper boat, which is an easy, direct service to Sydney’s largest outlet centre, Birkenhead Point.
