Seat Tarraco PHEV

-

Back around to Tarraco again, but only to look at some MQB future proofing. At the Frankfurt Motor Show this month, Seat previewed a Tarraco FR with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

It blends the VW Group 1.4-litre 110kW turbo-petrol engine with a 13kWh lithium-ion battery and 85kW electric motor. That’s sufficient for 50km of pure-electric running between charges, but also brisk 0-100kmh performance of 7.4 seconds. It’s the most economical Tarraco, but also the most powerful, with system output of 180kW.

The Tarraco PHEV goes into production next year. But, of course, the technology will be applicable right across the MQBSUV range.
