A week of good shows to binge-watch

Rosario Dawson (Zombieland: Double Tap, Daredevil) stars in this drama based on American crime fiction writer Ross Thomas’ 1984 book of the same name. She plays Allegra Dill, an investigat­or who returns home when her sister is killed. and Heidi Klum begin a new era with this similarly themed reality series. It features 12 entreprene­urs and designers from around the globe battling each other to grow their fashion brands. And viewers are able to buy each week’s winning look.

Based on the second of Italian author Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels, The Story of a New Name, this eight-part sophomore season offers further adventures of Elena and Lila. Both now 16, Elena is a model student and Lila is already married. However, both feel ‘‘stuck in a rut’’ until they meet up with Nino Sarratore once again.

Ben Mendelsohn, Cynthia Erivo, Jason Bateman,

Paddy Considine, and Julianne Nicholson star in this 10-part adaptation of Stephen King’s 2018 novel of the same name. It focuses on a popular teacher who is arrested and charged with raping, mutilating and killing an 11-year-old boy, despite seemingly having a watertight alibi.

Defending Jacob (Apple TV, April 24): Captain America himself Chris Evans teams up with Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery for this eight-part crime drama based on the 2012 book by William Landay.

The Midnight Gospel (Netflix, April 20): Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward turns his hand to more adult animation with this blood, guts and swearing-filled space adventure.

Never Have I Ever (Netflix, April 26): Inspired by US comedian Mindy Kaling’s childhood, this comedy looks at the complicate­d life of a modernday, first-generation Indian-American teenager.

One Lane Bridge (TVNZ OnDemand, April 20): Queenstown-based Kiwi drama about a murder investigat­ion conducted by a young Cook IslandMa¯ ori detective with a special gift.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (Neon, April 27): Natalie Dormer and Nathan Lane headline this late 1930s-set spinoff of the popular horror series.

The Secret She Keeps (TVNZ OnDemand, April 23): An Aussie psychologi­cal drama about two women from vastly different background­s whose secrets could destroy everything they hold dear.
