What’s one place you’d take every visitor to New Zealand, and why?

Karekare Beach and Falls, around 35km from central Auckland, is such an amazing spot so close to the city.

Dense native forests, a great swimming spot at the bottom of Karekare Falls and the Opal Pool Stream Cascade, a secluded beach with towering cliffs and outstanding views on the drive through the Waitakere Ranges.

What’s your secret backyard favourite spot?

The Sylvan conservation campsite at the top of Dart River Valley, south of Queenstown, is fantastic.

The sunsets are beyond amazing and, on a clear night, the sky is lit up with stars. It’s a great spot to set up camp for a few nights alongside the Routeburn River, and for a quick dip after a day of exploring walking tracks through untouched native forests. Fantastic fly-fishing spots are also close by.

What’s your favourite place for a pie/coffee?

I have a couple of equal favourites: The Lotus-Heart restaurant, which has a longevity iced coffee that is sublime and is always a must when visiting family in Christchurch.

And a takeaway coffee on Punakaiki Beach at sunrise, overlooking the Tasman Sea is a magical experience. Usually you’re the only person on the beach.

What’s one New Zealand spot that’s at the top of your bucket list?

The Milford Track is at the top of my to-do list this year. After living in Queenstown, and having been back in New Zealand now for nearly three years, it’s finally time!
