You can get there early (it’s open from 8am), and can grab a coffee on-site before exploring 64 hectares of gardens. The gardens are home to more than 10,000 plants from around the world which you can wander at your leisure. You could choose to immerse yourself in the colourful camellia garden, garner inspiration for your kitchen in the herb garden or marvel at the native forest’s ancient podocarps. Next time bring your bike and explore the excellent mountain bike trails at neighbouring Tōtara Park.
