Council staff threatened

-

A Christchurch man who murdered a neighbour in a dispute over loud music had earlier threatened city council staff after his TV and sound system were seized. Tristan Ross Locke, 31, is awaiting sentence for murder after being found guilty this month of stabbing Mark Cowling to death. On Friday he was also found guilty of possessing an offensive weapon with the intent of threatening violence. The court heard Locke’s TV and sound system had been seized on May 22 after a noise complaint. Locke turned up to the council offices saying that if he did not get them back, he would stab someone, and produced a knife. Judge John Brandts-Giesen remanded him for sentencing on July 13, and lifted his interim name suppression.
