Constable honoured
Friends, family and former colleagues of Auckland police officer Matthew Hunt gathered to mark a year since his death. In a ceremony attended by about 200 people at Orewa’s Remembrance Reserve yesterday, a ko¯whai was planted in his memory and a bench and plaque unveiled. Hunt, 28, was shot dead during a traffic stop in West Auckland, on June 19, 2020. Eli Bob Sauni Epiha, 24, is set to stand trial in the High Court next month on charges of murder and attempted murder. Natalie Bracken is charged as an accessory after the fact.
