Bland builds on big break to lead Henley at US Open

-

Richard Bland, a 48-year-old from England who finally won on the European Tour last month in his 478th try, fired a 67 yesterday to jointly lead the US Open at Torrey Pines in California, with US longshot Russell Henley carding 70 to join Bland at 5-under 137. Former British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen (71) and a fresh-up Matthew Wolff (68) were one shot behind. Another shot back were two-time US Masters champion Bubba Watson (67) and Jon Rahm (70), a past winner at Torrey Pines who has just recovered from Covid-19.
