Shining Vale (March 15, Neon/SkyGo)

Friends and Cougar Town star Courtney Cox returns to TV with this eight-part horror comedy about a family who move to a small town and a house in which terrible atrocities have previously taken place. Once the author of a hit ‘‘female empowerment’’ novel, Cox’s Pat Phelps quickly becomes convinced she’s either depressed or possessed by her new surroundings. Greg Kinnear and Rob Morrow also appear. ‘‘Bolstered by a star turn from Cox and some fun throwbacks pitched alongside new takes on horrors past, this messy but fun genre mash-up makes for entertaining viewing,’’ wrote Empire magazine’s Jordan King.

Live Live Cinema: The Little Shop of Horrors – Lockdown Edition (Thursday, March 17, Aaf.co.nz)

A co-production between Silo Theatre, Auckland Arts Festival and Jumpboard Productions, this hybrid of live theatre and film features the cast of the original 2015 production – Hayley Sproull, Laughton Kora, Byron Coll and Barnie Duncan. Filmed in just one take during the 2020 national lockdown, viewers will see a split screen featuring both Roger Corman’s original 1960 comedy horror and the performing quartet. The season, which has also included Night of the Living Dead, Dementia 13 and Carnival of Souls, finishes on March 27.

WeCrashed (March 18, Apple TV+)

Based on the hit podcast WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork, this eight-part drama looks at the love story at the centre of the business that grew from a single co-working space into a global brand worth US$47 billion in under a decade. Then, in less than a year, its value plummeted. Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto star.
