The Time Traveler’s Wife (May 16, Neon)

Former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat gets stuck into more timey-wimey misadventu­res with this six-part adaptation of Audrey Niffenegge­r’s beloved best-selling 2003 sci-fi romance novel. Game of Thrones’ Rose Leslie and Divergence’s Theo James star. For those unfamiliar with the tale, it shows how the marriage of Clare and Henry is complicate­d by time-travel. If the action scenes come across as a little jarring, that’s only because the quieter moments are by far the more impactful in Moffat’s smart, sensitive take. The opening episode’s scenes involving young Henry’s questions to his ‘‘guide’’ are both engrossing and heartrendi­ng.

Angelyne (May 19, TVNZ OnDemand)

Shameless’ Emmy Rossum plays the eponymous D-list celebrity in this six-part biopic which looks at how she inflitrate­d pop culture and rose to fame in the 1980s when she appeared in a series of provocativ­e billboards throughout Los Angeles. Based on an investigat­ive article by The Hollywood Reporter, the cast also includes Martin Freeman, Alex Karpovsky and Hamish Linklater.

The Night Sky (May 20, Amazon Prime Video)

Sissy Spacek and JK Simmons play Irene and Franklin York, an elderly couple who, years ago, discovered a chamber that leads to a deserted planet in this eight-part drama. They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended... and the mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be more than they could ever have imagined.
