First ODI: Black Caps v Bangladesh.

Where: University Oval, Dunedin.

What to expect

A bumper summer of Black Caps cricket featuring four touring teams kicks off at the country’s southernmost international venue on Sunday.

Fresh from their gripping 1-1 test series draw, Bangladesh and the Black Caps reconvene for a short white ball series including three ODIs and three T20 internationals.

The hosts field a new-look squad for the ODIs at least, with Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips and Devon Conway all rested and Michael Bracewell (Achilles), Matt Henry (hamstring), Lockie Ferguson (Achilles) and Jimmy Neesham (ankle) all not considered.

That means three potential ODI debutants in the coming days. Towering seamer Will O’Rourke, legspinner Adi Ashok and allrounder Josh Clarkson are the uncapped players, with Ashok joining in for games two and three and Ish Sodhi playing game one.

Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, are still seeking their first ODI win against the Black Caps in New Zealand, with the ledger 16-0 in favour of the home side. Here’s all you need to know about the series opener, which precedes visits by Pakistan, South Africa and Australia:
