Better safe than sorry
It may have looked like a practical joke, but there was a practical reason behind these plastic–wrapped cars on Lemon St. Carl Moke of Downer said the cars were wrapped to protect them while the road was bitumen sealed. He said Downer was under pressure to get the road sealed so any cars left in the way were wrapped up. ‘‘We wrap them up otherwise they get covered in bitumen and cost thousands to clean,’’ Mr Moke said. He said Downer had industrial rolls of plastic wrap which made the job easy.
