Regatta begins today

New Plymouth Yacht Club officials were busy yesterday preparing for their annual two-day regatta starting today. The event doubles as the Western Districts championships. NPYC spokesman Wayne Holdt expected more than 90 yachts to compete. ‘‘There is also between 10-15 paper tigers from out of town coming so that will bolster the numbers,’’ he said. Racing starts at 10am on both days, conditions permitting.
