Let’s go man, I’m ready, Whyte tells Parker

-

British fighter Dillian Whyte says he is ready to fight Kiwi heavyweight champion Joseph Parker in September if Hughie Fury pulls out of a planned bout in Britain.

Whyte, the WBC international heavyweight champion made the offer to Parker in the ring at a fight night in London at the weekend.

Parker, the WBO world champion, is set to fight Fury, the mandatory challenger, in the English boxer’s hometown of Manchester in September 23.

But Fury pulled out of a planned match-up in Auckland last May at two weeks’ notice, citing a back injury.

Whyte has offered to fill the breach if Fury cries off again.

‘‘I am ready, let’s get it on,’’ he told Parker, who was at the London fight night as a guest of promoter Frank Warren.

‘‘I will be ready if Hughie Fury pulls out in September. I will fight you, and let’s get it on.

‘‘I’m good, I want that world title man, you’re holding the belt. I want it. You need to fight someone decent. Let’s go man, I’m ready to go.’’

Joseph Parker has vowed to silence his doubters in the UK when he makes his longawaited British debut against Hughie Fury later this year.

When an unidentified fan asked to talk to Parker, Whyte said: ‘‘Hey, we’re talking busi- ness man.’’

Parker suggested Whyte get promoter Eddie Hearn to speak to Duco Events promoter David Higgins. Higgins appeared in the ring and introduced him to Whyte who said: ‘‘Listen, I’m ready go go man ... I want that WBO belt.’’

Higgins replied that he knew Whyte was ready and that he planned to meet Hearn on Monday.

Parker and Higgins will then go to Manchester on Tuesday for a press conference with Hughie Fury and his cousin, Tyson, the former unified world heavyweight champion.

Jamaican-born Whyte, 29, is a former British and European kick boxing champion.

He was knocked out by current unified world champion Anthony Joshua in a 2015 bout for the vacant British heavyweight title.

Whyte won the WBC International heavyweight crown in 2016.
