Phillips hits NZ A to series win

-

An unbeaten Glenn Phillips half century has helped New Zealand A to a five-wicket win and a 2-1 Twenty20 series victory over Pakistan A in Dubai.

Phillips scored an unbeaten 69 from 50 balls as the New Zealand A side chased down their target of 157 with an over to spare.

On his way to 69, Phillips hit five fours and four sixes in a dominant display from the opener.

Pakistan A lost six wickets on their way to 156, with Sahibzada Farhan top scoring with 34 runs.

Todd Astle was the best of the New Zealand bowlers, claiming two wickets from his four overs, while conceding 29 runs.

In reply, Phillips went on the charge to chase down Pakistan A’s score, while none of the other New Zealand A batsmen were able to build a big score.

New Zealand A next play a one-day series against Pakistan A starting on October 21.
